Department of oncology and haematology
The department of oncology and haematology at Nordwest Hospital Frankfurt am Main diagnoses and treats solid malignant tumours of various locations and the entire spectrum of hematopoietic system diseases. The department is certified by the German Cancer Society and can offer all the achievements of modern medicine. Based on the department, an Interdisciplinary Cancer Center was created with seven specialized units. The medical team holds weekly consultations, making specific and individual treatment plans for each patient. The oncologists of the department apply modern medical services, care concepts and therapeutic proposals based on international best practices and current research results. In addition to comprehensive treatment, doctors have been developing and using vaccines against cancer of various localizations for more than 25 years.
The doctors of the department focus on patients with malignant tumours of the respiratory organs, gastrointestinal tract, breast cancer, cancer of the female genital organs and prostate cancer. Treatment is complex and includes surgery, chemotherapy, immunotherapy, radiation therapy, and monoclonal antibody therapy. In addition, all patients and their relatives receive professional psychological assistance in the department. In the case of incurable diseases, the medical team offers palliative care to cancer patients. The department's main task is to relieve pain and maintain a decent quality of life for patients.
