Department of transgender surgery

Dr. med. Paul Jean Daverio
plastic surgery, transgender surgery

About the department

The department of transgender surgery at MEOCLINIC Berlin offers a team with extensive expertise in more than 1,000 internationally performed female-to-male (FtM) and more than 400 male-to-female (MtF) transgender surgeries. The head of the department is among the most experienced transgender surgeons worldwide. Especially in complications, the department is regularly consulted by patients and peers. At the department, transsexual people who have not had any previous operations connected to GAOP can have their entire gender reassignment surgically in just one operation. One-stage phalloplasty is a surgical procedure that does not require any previous operations such as metaiodioplasty (Klitpen) to prepare for the larger intervention. The urethral/penoid reconstruction takes place at the same time - together with the colpectomy. An expert team of plastic, gynaecological, microsurgical, and urological specialists simultaneously performs the mastectomy (removal of the breast), hysterectomy (removal of the womb), and ovariectomy (removal of the ovaries), and colpectomy (removal of the vagina) in operation lasting approx. 8-9 hours.

The department performs MtF and FtM gender reassignment surgeries, corrections of complications, and counselling for gender diversity.
