Department of endocrinology and nephrology (kidney diseases)

Prof. Dr. med. Walter Zidek
endocrinology and nephrology

About the department

The department of endocrinology and nephrology (kidney diseases) at MEOCLINIC Berlin offers medical advice and treatment for disorders of the kidneys and hormonal disbalances. The endocrinologist deals with the diseases of the hormone-producing glands and tries to balance the hormone balance and alleviate the symptoms using medication tailored to the patient. The nephrologist deals with all kidney inflammations or kidney failures and treats complaints such as kidney and bladder pain, protein in the urine or urine discolouration, and more. The head of the department is proficient in both branches of medicine and provides high-quality medical services for various diseases, including rare and severe cases.

In the case of metabolism and hormone system diseases, general treatment approaches are not effective. Each patient is provided with individual therapy. In many cases, drug treatment or hormone replacement therapy is helpful, especially with hormonal problems. After a detailed discussion, the specialist doctor asks about previous medical history and possible family history, and a physical examination is carried out. A hormone test is also carried out, and urine and blood are analyzed. Diagnosis and treatment are supplemented by imaging methods such as CT, MRI, and ultrasound.
