About the department

The department of internal medicine (endocrinology, diabetology, rheumatology, nephrology with dialysis centre) at Helios Hospital Krefeld offers a full range of services in these areas of medicine. The main direction of the department is the treatment of kidney diseases, namely acute and chronic renal failure. In cooperation with the KfH Kidney Center in Krefeld, the department offers comprehensive care from early treatment and late-stage therapy to kidney replacement procedures such as dialysis (blood purification). The medical team also provides care to patients before and after kidney transplantation. The increased interest of doctors is caused by the problem of high blood pressure and lipid metabolism disorders. In addition, the department includes the Hypertension Center, certified by the German Hypertension League, where specialists offer differential diagnostics and therapy.

The department has extensive experience treating autoimmune and rheumatological diseases and guarantees the best, individually tailored therapy - from medical immunosuppressive therapy to extracorporeal treatments such as plasmapheresis and immunoadsorption. The department's diagnostic services include blood and urine tests, ultrasound, functional tests, and imaging studies. The department also provides treatment for type 1 and type 2 diabetes mellitus and diabetic foot syndrome.
