Department of diagnostic and interventional radiology

Prof. Dr. med. Marcus Katoh
radiology, interventional radiology

About the department

The diagnostic and interventional radiology department at Helios Hospital Krefeld offers the full range of radiological diagnostics and interventional therapy. The department has the latest state-of-the-art equipment for diagnosing various diseases. Doctors successfully carry out imaging diagnostics, making it possible to establish the diagnosis and develop the proper treatment regimen. The department is among the medical institutions in Germany specialising in radiodiagnosis in children. All department equipment is adapted to the characteristics of a growing child's body, and paediatricians, pediatric surgeons, orthopedists and neurologists participate in making a diagnosis. The medical team performs X-ray examinations, ultrasound, computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, angiography and mammography. The range of services of the department is complemented by minimally invasive therapeutic procedures under visual control. The department's radiologists strictly observe the radiation protection standards, so all diagnostic and therapeutic procedures are safe for patients.

In interventional radiology, the focus is on treating chronic pain syndromes, vascular diseases, benign and malignant tumours, and metastases. In many cases, interventional radiotherapy can effectively eliminate the pathology and save the patient from the need for a full-fledged surgical intervention. In addition, the department offers patients highly qualified interventional treatment of brain and spinal cord diseases, such as strokes, aneurysms, and stenosis.
