About the department

The department of pediatric surgery at Helios Hospital Berlin-Buch, integrated into the Level 1 Perinatal Center, has around 40 beds and treats more than 2,000 inpatients and about 300 outpatients every year, from premature babies to adolescents. The department is famous for its medical expertise and child-friendly environment. The Daily Mirror recognized it for the Correction of a Pectus Excavation (in Children). Each of the 20 rooms in the ward is equipped with the latest medical technology, and the staff guarantees the best medical and nursing care around the clock. A playroom, a tea kitchen, and an open area are available for the comfort of the inpatients. A stay in the Ronald McDonald Oasis is possible during the day or during outpatient operations. Changing and breastfeeding facilities and a play area are available to everyone.

Pediatric surgery specialities available at the department include traumatology, urology, oncology, neonatology (newborns), thoracic, and plastic reconstructive surgery. Diagnostics include routine testing and endoscopy, minimally-invasive surgery of the abdominal wall (laparoscopy), chest (thoracoscopy), and more.
