About the department

The department of general, abdominal and oncological surgery at Helios Hospital Berlin-Buch is a world-class medical centre. The central operating ward contains more than 20 rooms and is one of the largest in Germany. State-of-the-art diagnostic and therapeutic procedures and certified competence guarantee the best possible treatment success. The department is a certified colon cancer centre, oncology centre, sarcoma centre, and a quality-assured hernia surgery centre. Safety in the operation rooms is standardized according to the WHO PERI checklist, which was also developed with the help of the hospital, and two additional checklists, since 2009. Structural parts of the department include the general surgery ward and oncological surgery station. Different offers are available at the department and include optional comfortable accommodation in high-quality single and double rooms and many services and other benefits.

The surgeons in the department specialize in the surgical treatment of benign and malignant diseases of the abdominal organs and glands. In addition, treatment of acute and chronic gastrointestinal disorders is provided. Thanks to the extensive experience, gentle minimally-invasive techniques of keyhole surgery (laparoscopy) are used whenever possible.
