About the department

The department of pediatric surgery at Hauner Children's department at University Hospital of the Ludwig-Maximilians-University (LMU) Munich offers the full spectrum of surgical treatment for various conditions in children and adolescents. The department carries out surgical procedures as gently as possible using the most modern, minimally invasive procedures. It consists of 61 specialized beds and 3 intensive care units to be able to treat even the most severe acute diseases. Furthermore, the department can offer a telemedical video consultation to save their patients a long journey. Also, the department is one of the leading academic pediatric surgeries in the German-speaking region in the research and development of innovative therapy methods. The caring medical staff does everything possible for a comfortable stay of children in the hospital without stress. Among the department staff, there are teachers to teach patients who are on long-term inpatient treatment. Beneath the roof of the department is a large and comfortable relaxation room for parents with psychological support for children and their relatives.

The department's main task is the surgical treatment of diseases that cannot be cured conservatively. In addition, сongenital malformations, the consequences of accidents and burns in children, pediatric tumour surgery, and other pathological conditions are treated in the department.
