Department of oral and maxillofacial surgery
The department of oral and maxillofacial surgery at University Hospital of the Ludwig-Maximilians-University (LMU) Munich deals with the diagnosis and treatment of surgical diseases in the oral cavity, jaw, face and upper neck areas. Depending on the severity, treatment is either outpatient or inpatient. About 1,500 inpatients are treated in the departments annually. More than 50 doctors and dentists work in the oral and maxillofacial surgery departments and enable patient care at the highest medical level. Modern equipment uses the latest therapeutic techniques and surgical procedures for the best treatment results, including aesthetic ones. Emergency care is a part of a regular service. The department specializes in inflammation of the bones and soft tissues, fractures of the facial skull, congenital malformations, and other pathological conditions. Also, the department provides oncological operations, and plastic and reconstructive surgery.
