Department of oncology
The department of oncology at University Hospital of the Ludwig-Maximilians-University (LMU) Munich cares for patients with malignant and blood diseases. The department participates in numerous clinical trials to give patients access to the most innovative medicines and treatment methods. A lot of national and international multi-centre academic therapy studies are initiated and managed by the department of oncology. Two modern units for allogeneic stem cell transplantation are presented in the departments. The experienced medical team of 65 doctors and 130 nurses provides a full range of diagnostic and treatment for patients and guarantees comfortable leave in a hospital. Also, a group of doctors, psychologists and therapists offer an extensive psycho-oncological care program, which includes family and children's consultation hours for the relatives of our patients. More than 3,000 inpatients and 13,000 outpatients are treated in the department per year.
The department focuses on immuno-oncology, lymphomas, acute leukaemias, gastrointestinal tumours, and others. In addition, the department uses an innovative method for the treatment of malignant tumours. The treatment methods are ranged from systemic chemotherapy and targeted therapy to immunotherapy.
