About the department

The department of psychiatry and psychotherapy at the University Hospital Charite Berlin specialises in the broad spectrum of psychiatric disorders therapy. The unit has an individual consultation and outpatient division. It is worth mentioning that integrative research and clinical platform Charite Mental Health was organised on the clinic's basis. Moreover, the department is a research centre of Charite and is divided into nine research divisions, investigating affective disorders, brain stimulation, etc. The head physician of the unit recently was a President of the German Society of Psychiatry, Psychotherapy and Psychosomatics. The team have received numerous awards (e.g. "Hans-Heimann-Preis") for clinic and scientific works. The team consists of experienced specialists who follow the latest international guidelines.

The medical focus of the department lies in diagnosing and treating various mental diseases, including mood and affective disorders, personality disorders, psychoses, etc. The focal points also include psychotherapy for patients.
