About the department

The department of pediatric pulmonology and immunology at the University Hospital Charite Berlin treats respiratory and immune systems conditions in children until 18. The unit is a part of the Otto Heubner Center for Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine of the Charite and has more than 30 years of professional experience. In addition, the clinic is one of the major research centres in Berlin. It conducts scientific research in immunology and epidemiology. Moreover, clinical trials are also carried out on a department basis. It is worth mentioning that the head physician of the unit has numerous awards for his clinical and scientific success. Furthermore, he is a member of national and international societies for paediatrics and immunology.

The department is focused on diagnosing and treating respiratory tract diseases in children, especially chronic diseases with allergic pathogenesis. The other focal point is immune defects, in particular autoimmune diseases of childhood.
