About the department

The department of orthopaedics and traumatology with musculoskeletal surgery centre at the University Hospital Charite Berlin specialises in conservative and operative orthopaedics and trauma surgery. The unit is equipped with modern three-dimensional technologies, computer simulations and movement analyses. On a department basis, the centre for musculoskeletal surgery is established. In addition, the medical team is engaged in scientific and clinical research. It is essential to mention that the investigation is carried out in tight connection with the BIH's Julius Wolff Institute for Biomechanics and Musculoskeletal Regeneration. The head physician of the department is a President of the German Society for Orthopaedics and Orthopaedic Surgery and a member of other societies and associations.

The unit is focused on the endoprosthetic treatment of large joints and bone implants, as well as reconstruction surgery. The other focal points are pelvic surgery, geriatric traumatology and medical care of patients with severe polytraumas. The experienced specialists provide high-quality treatment of all types of injuries and deformities.
