About the department

The department of neurology at the University Hospital Charite Berlin specialises in diagnosing and treating various neurological diseases. The clinic has been a major neurological centre since the 19th century. The unit has 170 beds at its disposal. The doctor's team consists of 160 neurologists and neuroscientists, which treat more than 8,000 inpatients and 20,000 outpatient cases each year. Furthermore, the neurology centre guarantees the interdisciplinary approach as it cooperates with the neurosurgery and anesthesiology clinics. In addition, the department conducts scientific research in close cooperation with the Center for Stroke Research Berlin. The research team consists of 13 working groups. Moreover, the unit is an academic teaching centre of Charite. Finally, it is worth mentioning that the head physician of the clinic is a member of the German Society of Neurology and the German Stroke Society.

The department of neurology is focused on the detailed neuroimaging and therapy of neurological diseases, especially cerebrovascular pathologies, such as stroke. The disorders such as headaches and pain are also among the focal points of the department. Neuroinflammatory conditions are professionally treated at the hospital as well.
