About the city

Lublin is one of the oldest settlements in Poland and has a 7-century history. It is the largest city and an industrial, cultural, and scientific center in the country's east. The population is 350,000 people.

Lublin played an essential role in the unification into the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth in 1569. The Diet of the two states took place in the castle of the time of Casimir the Great, which today is a famous museum among tourists. At its foot, Castle Square is bustling with life and numerous festivals with fairs, modern art exhibitions, and open-air theater performances. One of them is the carnival of magicians, a real adventure for adults and children. The town is also famous for the Lublin Cathedral, which became the first baroque building outside Italy. Taking a few steps from the cathedral, you can admire the magical view of the city from the 65-meter Trinity Tower. After a busy day, you can enjoy traditional drinks in the brewery of 1860 and national taste delicacies in the "Semanedi" candy shop.

The city has been important since its foundation. In the 10th and 11th centuries, Lublin acquired the status of an important trade center. In addition, the location on the eastern borders of Polish lands determined its military importance. Furthermore, despite all the disagreements, wars, and epidemics, the town received constant development and recovery. A vivid example of stability and growth is the science and medical sphere. A large number of universities and schools, hospitals, and clinics are an integral part of the city. In particular, the medical university in Lublin, founded in 1950, contributed to the flow of medical talent and the development of the treatment field. Oncology Center Lublin has become the largest in eastern Poland and provides complex treatment to patients worldwide.

Many sights, events, and the architecture of Lublin attract increasing numbers of tourists. Guests of the city can combine a peaceful cultural vacation with a rich program of activities.
