Oncology Center Prof. F. Łukaszczyk Bydgoszcz is a state research hospital and an elite vanguard of Polish oncology. This state-operated institution earned its place in European medical history in 2003 by installing Poland’s very first Positron Emission Tomography (PET/CT) scanner, effectively transforming the city into the country's foundational cradle for molecular imaging and early-stage metabolic tumor tracking. Rather than adhering to the traditional, isolated model of public cancer clinics, the Bydgoszcz campus completely breaks the standard mold by integrating the Park Aktywnej Rehabilitacji i Sportu (PARiS). This massive wellness, hydrotherapy, and athletic center, seamlessly woven into the oncology infrastructure, ensures that aggressive tumor destruction is balanced by immediate, intensive physical and psychological kinesiotherapy designed to restore systemic vitality before patients return to their domestic routines. The surgical expertise of the Bydgoszcz center is internationally recognized for hosting Poland's largest and most technologically advanced clinical department of oncological surgery. The facility operates a highly structured, internationally accredited colorectal cancer unit that serves as a high-volume European reference node, performing hundreds of radical laparoscopic and open gastrointestinal resections annually. This extensive visceral capability is amplified by a sophisticated robotic framework, making the hospital one of the few elite centers in Central Europe to utilize multiple concurrent da Vinci robotic-assisted surgery systems. This dual-robotic infrastructure allows specialized urologists, gynecologists, and surgical oncologists to perform ultra-precise, bloodless pelvic lymphadenectomies and organ-sparing tumor extirpations, significantly minimizing post-operative tissue trauma and reducing ICU stays. The center also features a new model of patient nutrition. The doctors were awarded first place in the "Good Clinical Nutrition Hospital - nutrition treatment" competition.  Also, the clinic opened the first PET/MR laboratory at its base for even better, faster diagnostics.  Traditional imaging techniques are available under one roof: mammography, X-ray, ultrasound, MRI, CT, and the more modern virtual colonoscopy. After a detailed laboratory, genetic, and imaging study of the disease, the multidisciplinary team decides on the use of different types of treatment.  In particular, doctors offer a wide range of radiation therapy options, including 3D-IMRT, 3D-CRT, radical teleradiotherapy with 3D and 2D planning, and palliative radiation therapy.  Chemotherapy is also available in the form of cytostatic drugs and modern drugs with molecular-target action, hormonal drugs, and immunotherapy. The radiological and neurovascular divisions of the hospital are characterized by an uncompromising deployment of advanced biophysics. Through its dedicated department of neuroonocology and radiosurgery, the facility operates a world-class spine radiosurgery track that allows patients to safely manage complex, previously inoperable vertebral lesions without open orthopedical trauma. Using the advanced ExacTrac Dynamic tracking system, which combines real-time surface thermal cameras with continuous internal X-ray stereotaxy, the linear accelerators automatically compensate for human respiration, delivering targeted ionization with sub-millimeter precision. Furthermore, the clinic stands at the absolute frontier of glioblastoma multiforme management by integrating tumor treating fields (TTFields), non-invasive arrays that send low-intensity, alternating electric fields through the skull to systematically disrupt cancer cell mitosis.
