About the department

The department of spine surgery at Academic Hospital Koblenz-Montabaur specialises in the conservative and surgical treatment of spinal diseases, including stabilising and reconstructive interventions and microsurgery of the spinal cord. Ten highly qualified and motivated specialists and specially trained nursing staff treat more than 1,300 inpatients per year, thus ensuring a consistent specialist doctor standard within the department. The specialists work hand in hand with the physiotherapy team so that patients can move around again as quickly as possible without any problems. The department of spine surgery has been certified at level II by the German Spine Society (DWG), which confirms the high professionalism of doctors and the excellent quality of the services provided.

Experienced doctors treat degenerative and inflammatory diseases of the spine and hernias, and neoplasms. Non-surgical procedures come first, but a minimally invasive or microsurgical procedure is carried out if an operation is necessary. The doctors select the minor possible access route, thus ensuring gentle treatment. As a rule, patients leave the clinic after a few days.
