About the hospital

Academic Hospital Koblenz-Montabaur is a modern medical institution that provides high-quality diagnostics and treatment following international standards. In 2001, the two traditional Koblenz hospitals - Marienhof and Bruderhaus St. Josef merged to form the Catholic Clinic Koblenz. This was expanded in 2011 by connecting with the Montabaur Brothers Hospital. The merger of the three clinics made it possible to establish innovative care focuses in each facility. The network ensures development potential and sustainability and significantly improves healthcare in the population. The hospital is the fifth largest medical facility in Rhineland-Palatinate today.

The hospital includes 20 specialised departments and 659 inpatient beds. The medical team treats and diagnoses more than 33,000 inpatients and about 120,000 outpatients annually. The clinic patients live in comfortable single and double rooms, made in bright colours and with a modern design. In addition, the clinic provides rooms of increased comfort, corresponding to the level of a five-star hotel.

Today the clinic, which also houses a so-called "stroke unit" for stroke patients, is a highly competent and famous place. In particular, the centre for orthopaedics and trauma surgery and neurology deserves special mention, which works according to the highest medical standards through specialisation and the most modern surgical procedures. The polio centre is also the only focus of its kind in Germany to treat polio patients. Another focus is on the departments of acute geriatrics, urology, trauma surgery/orthopaedics, general and visceral surgery, internal medicine, oral and maxillofacial surgery and the day clinic for pain. All three locations are equipped with modern devices for computed tomography, MRI, and ultrasound diagnostics, allowing doctors to establish diagnoses and start treatment as soon as possible.

The hospital features high-tech infrastructure and an atmosphere of understanding, sympathy, and respect for each patient. All staff surround the patient with attention and provide him with effective treatment using all classical and innovative treatment methods.

Can I get obesity surgery at the clinic?

The surgical techniques of bariatric surgery are minimally invasive using the so-called keyhole technique. This method means that only four to five small incisions are needed, about one to two centimetres long. It offers numerous benefits: less pain, tiny surgical scars, and abdominal wall stability.

Does Hospital Koblenz-Montabaur provide medical care for patients with polio?

Academic Hospital Koblenz-Montabaur is the only hospital in Germany with a special polio unit. Poliomyelitis is an interdisciplinary problem, so close collaboration between different medical specialities is extremely important: neurology, orthopaedics, pain therapy and pulmonology.

Does the hospital have a spine centre?

The Medical Center for Spine Surgery offers patients a full range of unique and general spine surgery, stabilizing and reconstructive procedures, including microsurgery and spinal cord surgery. Specialists work hand in hand with a team of physiotherapists so that patients can recover faster.

About the city

Koblenz is a German city, the third-largest in the Rhineland-Palatinate region. The city is one of Germany's most beautiful and oldest places, with a lovely atmosphere, architecture, and more than 2,000 years of history.

Many of the city's sights are included in the UNESCO World Heritage List and are part of the cultural landscape of the Upper Rhine. An exciting attraction is the so-called "German Corner", the confluence of two rivers - the Rhine and the Moselle. One of the most popular entertainments among the guests of Koblenz is a cable car ride that takes you to the top of the mountain. There is an old castle here, and on the top of the hill, there are beautiful parks and the best viewpoints in the city.

There are about 150 sports clubs in Koblenz, and about 50 different sports are offered. In addition, the city has many colleges and universities specialising in information management, computer science and computational visualisation. The town also has 2 locations of the Academic Hospital Koblenz-Montabaur, where highly qualified medical care is provided.

Koblenz is a modern city best known for its many vineyards and castles. However, there are many monuments, attractions and exciting places. And photoshoots against the background of picturesque views of the city on the land of Rhineland-Palatinate will take their favourite places in the albums and memory of travellers.
