About the department

The department of cardiology, electrophysiology and rhythmology at Academic Hospital Koblenz-Montabaur deals with all cardiac rhythm disorders and offers all options for treating cardiac arrhythmias. The department has a state-of-the-art electrophysiological cardiac catheter laboratory with innovative 3D rotational angiography, including a large monitor. Up to six different images can be shown on this monitor, giving the surgeon an excellent overview. In addition, the department's specialists have many years of experience in cardiac resynchronisation therapy and treating patients with all types of cardiac pacemakers and implantable cardioverter-defibrillator. The department includes 36 beds for inpatient treatment. In addition, the department was one of the first clinics in Germany to be certified as a training facility by the German Society for Cardiology.

It provides the detection and treatment of cardiac arrhythmias, including a seizure-like rapid heartbeat, irregular heartbeat, dizziness or fainting due to a heartbeat that is too slow or too fast. All apparatus-based examinations such as long-term ECG, event recorders (mobile and implantable), tilting table examinations, and electrophysiological examinations are available to record these cardiac arrhythmias. Also, the department offers various procedures for pulmonary vein isolation, such as ablation using a PVAC catheter, a cryo-balloon catheter, and three-dimensional mapping.
