Department of otolaryngology, head and neck surgery

The department of otolaryngology, head and neck surgery at Academic Hospital Bundeswehr Berlin offers a comprehensive range of modern surgical and conservative therapies. Every year about 2,500 operations are carried out under general anaesthesia in the local central operating theatre. Using modern procedures and the latest surgical techniques (including navigation-assisted operations, salivary gland approach), the risks of surgical interventions are significantly reduced. As a result, it is possible to perform numerous functions on the ear, nose, and ears outpatient. Furthermore, local specialists attach great importance to interdisciplinary cooperation. A multidisciplinary tumour conference certified by the Berlin Medical Association takes place regularly in the hospital for quality assurance.

In treating ear, nose, and throat diseases, the department has placed its focus on operative ENT medicine and plastic operations in the head and neck region. The focus is on endoscopically functional sinus surgery, salivary gland surgery, and partially laser-assisted tumour surgery. Furthermore, there is much experience in microsurgical interventions in the middle ear and larynx area. Plastic operations on the ear, nose, and face are also part of the treatment spectrum.
