About the department

The department of urology at University Hospital Wurzburg (UKW) diagnoses and treats all diseases of the urinary organs, such as the kidneys, ureters, bladder and urethra, as well as the male reproductive organs in adults and children. The medical team offers the most modern medical and surgical treatments, individual care and advice on all urological diseases from a single source and at the highest level. Technical competence combined with the latest equipment allows the use of all established and innovative processes. The department performs about 5,500 operations per year in three state-of-the-art operating rooms. Urologists focus on surgical and medical treatment of oncological diseases, correction of complex malformations and plastic-reconstructive surgery. In addition, the department has a certified Prostate Cancer Centre, where doctors use minimally invasive techniques with the DaVinci surgical system.

The department has an impeccable reputation in treating urological diseases in children. The modern equipment of the department allows gentle and minimally invasive interventions. With the latest generation of DaVinci Xi® robots, surgeons are setting new standards in surgical precision. The high-tech equipment also includes state-of-the-art fusion biopsy technology, which expands the diagnostic spectrum for prostate carcinoma. The range of services also provides for treating adrenal diseases such as sexual disorders and infertility.
