About the department

The department of orthodontics at University Hospital Wurzburg (UKW) is located in a state-of-the-art centre for dental, oral and jaw health. The medical facility offers patients a full range of orthodontic treatments. The dentists of the department treat following the latest scientific discoveries, using innovative techniques and materials. More than 6,000 patients consult with the department's doctors annually, and about 1,500 patients of all ages are treated. In addition, the medical team works closely with other dental specialities such as conservative dentistry, dental prosthetics, periodontics and maxillofacial surgery. In addition to the most modern diagnostic procedures, such as low-beam digital radiography and intraoral scanning, the department has its dental photography studio and a professional orthodontic laboratory. Recently, the department has been completely rebuilt and modernized for comfortable of patients. As a result, the department is considered one of the most beautiful centres in Germany.

The primary attention of specialists is paid to the prevention and correction of malocclusion, incorrect position of the jaw and the treatment of pathologies of the facial skeleton. In addition to removable appliances and non-removable systems, dentists use orthodontic appliances such as the Herbst appliance and mini cortical screws. In addition to orthodontic procedures, the department specializes in treating cleft lip and palate, craniofacial anomalies and injuries, and jaw fractures.
