urology, urological oncology

About the department

The department of urology and urological oncology at Regio Hospital Elmshorn is one of the largest urological departments in the Hamburg region, characterised by modern technology and a high level of treatment success. The department is also the academic teaching hospital of the University of Hamburg and has a full advanced training permit. The medical team offers the entire spectrum of conservative and surgical treatments of urological diseases, including reconstructive urology. The operations are performed on an inpatient or outpatient basis. The department has the latest state-of-art equipment, which allows shock wave therapy for kidney stones or laser therapy for prostate hyperplasia.

The department focuses on urological tumour surgery, potency-preserving radical prostatectomy, laparoscopic and open kidney surgery, endoscopic surgical procedures and modern stone therapy. Many complex minimally-invasive operations are carried out in the department, such as removing a tumour-bearing kidney, removing the adrenal glands, and the plastic treatment of narrowing the renal pelvis. In addition, high-qualified surgeons regularly provide laparoscopic operations for benign diseases such as testicular varicose veins, kidney cysts or so-called wandering kidneys.
