About the department

The department of endocrinology, diabetology and metabolic diseases at Memorial Sisli Hospital Istanbul have exceptional experience in diagnosing and treating thyroid, parathyroid, adrenal glands, pituitary, pancreas and other endocrine organs. The department conducts various diagnostic tests, including laboratory tests to determine the level of hormones and blood glucose, ultrasound, scintigraphy, CT, MRI, densitometry, and others. The first-line therapy in most cases is drug treatment - the department's endocrinologists skillfully combine modern drugs to compensate for endocrine pathologies. In some clinical cases, therapy is aimed at achieving long-term remission. The treatment regimen is developed for each patient individually, following current clinical protocols and recommendations of professional societies.

The main focus of doctors is directed to the most common pathology among patients - thyroid cancer. Endocrinologists of the department use an effective non-invasive method of treating thyroid cancer - radioiodine therapy. The treatment is carried out in close cooperation with specialists from the nuclear medicine department. Total gland removal is performed only in complicated cases when other treatment methods are ineffective. Another priority activity of the department is diagnosing, treating and monitoring patients with diabetes mellitus. In addition, doctors pay special attention to complex treatment, including diet therapy, giving up bad habits, and physical activity.
