Department of neurosurgery

Prof. Dr. med. Theodoros Kombos

About the department

The department of neurosurgery at Academic Hospital Schlosspark Charlottenburg Berlin provides a whole range of experience in neurosurgery and spine cord surgery. The department integrates the valuable expertise of specialists and the latest technologies into medical practice. The doctors use the highest standards in treating brain, spinal cord, and peripheral nervous system diseases. The inpatient unit consists of 14 beds. It's worthy to note that the head physician of the neurosurgery department is a member of German and American neurosurgeons societies. Moreover, the chief doctor actively participates in the German Society for Computer- and Robot-Assisted Surgery and implements modern neurosurgical methods in routine practice. Furthermore, the neurosurgery department closely cooperates with qualified doctors from the department of neurology and interventional neuroradiology.

The neurosurgery department is focused on surgical treatment of brain tumours, nervous system diseases, and spinal surgery. To minimise intra- and postoperative risks, doctors use only minimally invasive, endoscopic, microscopic, and percutaneous methods. The main focal point of the neurosurgeon department is functions-sparing surgeries. Specialists regularly use awake operations and visual brain areas, neurophysiological monitoring, and neuronavigation systems for this goal.
