In addition, the city was the birthplace of Leopold Mozart, the father of Wolfgang Amadeus and an influential composer. The Mozart Festival, held every May, is just one of the ways the city honors the memory of father and son composers. The University of Augsburg was founded in 1970 and had over 18,000 students every year. Augsburg University Hospital is the most important provider of medical services not only in the city but also in the surrounding districts.
