About the department

The oral, maxillofacial and facial plastic surgery department at the University Hospital Wurzburg offers patients the full range of surgical treatments for maxillofacial defects, head and neck tumours, and aesthetic problems. The medical team of the department, consisting of doctors, nurses, dental specialists, dental technicians and administrative staff, provides patients with the most modern care. Despite innovative high-tech medicine, the focus of the department's activities is always on people with complaints and worries. Treatment is carried out on an outpatient and inpatient basis. The department has 40 beds in single and double rooms and two well-equipped operating rooms for more complex and extensive procedures. The department is also a centre for treating head and neck cancer. The department's surgeons achieve high survival rates for patients after operations to remove head and neck tumours.

The department performs all dental surgical interventions, from simple tooth extractions to extensive dental implants and jaw reconstruction. If necessary, the treatment can be carried out using general anaesthesia. In addition, surgeons have the most advanced diagnostic and therapeutic procedures at their disposal, including digital X-rays, digital volumetric tomography, ultrasound technology and laser surgical systems. By contacting the department for help, patients can be confident in the quality and effectiveness of the medical services.
