Prof. Dr. med. Peter Vajkoczy
neurosurgery, microsurgery, cancer research

About the department

The neurosurgery department at University Hospital Charite Berlin is engaged in the surgical treatment of central and peripheric nervous system diseases. The neurosurgical centre is located at three Charite campuses: Campus Charite Mitte, Campus Virchow-Klinikum and Campus Benjamin Franklin. The success sign is that the experienced team of the department performs over 6,000 surgeries per year. In addition, the clinic has a close network with a pediatric neurosurgery department. Furthermore, the unit conducts scientific research and implements new diagnostic and therapeutic methods in medical practice. The team treats emergency cases as well. In addition, doctors offer daily consultations at the outpatient clinic.

The unit is focused on the surgical treatment of brain and spinal cord diseases. Moreover, peripheral nerve conditions are treated at the clinic. Professional neurosurgeons surgically remove the tumours of the central and peripheral nervous systems. In addition, cerebrovascular disease therapy is the other focal point of the department.
