About the department

The department of orthopaedic and trauma surgery with endoprosthesis centre at St. Zdislavy Hospital Velke Mezirici specializes in diagnosing and treating patients with the pathological condition of the musculoskeletal system. Patients are cared for by a multidisciplinary medical team, which consists of qualified doctors, nurses and physiotherapists. The department is accredited in orthopaedics and traumatology of the musculoskeletal system by the Ministry of Health. All operating rooms of the department are equipped with modern navigation systems, intraoperative microscopes and instruments for sparing minimally invasive surgery. All surgical interventions are discussed at interdisciplinary meetings and are carried out according to national and international protocols.

The department's spectrum of surgery is dominated by hip and knee replacement surgeries. Surgeons perform about 500 successful operations annually. Considerable attention is also paid to arthroscopic procedures, especially on the knee and shoulder joints, including replacing the anterior cruciate ligament or stabilizing the shoulder joint. Another direction is foot surgery, mainly the treatment of static deformities (arched toe, flat feet, toes).
