Department of gynaecological endocrinology and reproductive medicine

Dr. med. Stefan Palm
gynaecology, reproductive medicine

About the department

The department of gynaecological endocrinology and reproductive medicine at PAN Clinic Cologne is specialized in treating infertility and endocrine disorders since 1989. The department employs an interdisciplinary team of doctors, including endocrinologists, reproductologists, reproductive biologists, gynaecological surgeons, and psychologists, who provide a comprehensive approach to infertility treatment. During fertility treatment, one of the department's main tasks is to determine the possible genetic causes of fertility disorders and the individual risks for you as a couple and your desired child. Therefore, the involvement of a geneticist is necessary for coordination with the centres of reproductive medicine that carry out activities of assisted medical reproduction. The department includes the Endometriosis Center. It focuses on treating endometriosis, which occurs in 7-12% of women and can also cause infertility. Furthermore, doctors of the department pay special attention to the psychological health of the couple. Psychosomatic diseases are often one of the causes of infertility.

Using a wide range of diagnostic methods, the department determines the causes of unwanted infertility and then treats them purposefully. Common causes include, for example, hormonal disorders or disease of the fallopian tubes. In addition to hormonal and surgical treatment, the department uses methods of intrauterine insemination with partner or donor sperm and in vitro fertilization.
