About the department

The department of urology at Nordwest Hospital Frankfurt am Main treats all diseases of the urinary and genital organs. It provides diagnostics and treatment for adults and children. Thanks to the vast clinical experience and modern medical advances, the department's specialists successfully cope with malignant tumours of the urinary tract. In addition, the German Cancer Society certified the department as a centre for prostate cancer. The medical team pays special attention to the innovative treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia. For example, REZUM™ therapy uses water vapour to shrink the prostate. This method is a relatively new treatment for men with an enlarged prostate. The procedure is minimally invasive through the urethra and without an external incision. All treatment methods are modern and successfully used in the best urological clinics in the world.

The range of services includes conservative and surgical treatment of such diseases as malignant tumours of the kidneys, kidney stones, inflammatory diseases of the urological tract, as well as infertility and erectile dysfunction in men. In pediatric urology, the department doctors diagnose and treat phimosis, urinary incontinence, undescended testicle and hypospadias. Specialists try to avoid surgery or perform it minimally invasively and make the procedure as gentle as possible for the child. In addition to surgical treatment, doctors also successfully use laser technology, shock wave therapy, cryotherapy and collagen injections.
