Department of neurology

Prof. Dr. med. Jan Sobesky

About the department

The department of neurology at Johanna Etienne Hospital Neuss diagnoses and treats patients with central and peripheral nervous system disorders. The medical team consists of 24 doctors, including proven specialists in various fields of neurological diseases. The department works around the clock to provide the best possible care. Based on the department, there are almost 80 neurological beds, a special stroke unit with twelve monitor beds, and a unit for early rehabilitation and care options in intensive care and intermediate care medicine.

Doctors in treating neurological disorders use conservative treatment since, in most cases, reasonable drug control improves patients' quality of life. In addition to acute stroke, many complex vascular diseases such as malformations, fistulas or cerebral cavernomas are treated in the department. An interdisciplinary assessment of these diseases is carried out in cooperation with neuroradiology, vascular surgery and neurology, and the framework for standardised collaboration with the Helios Klinikum Krefeld Neurosurgery Clinic.
