Department of otolaryngology, head and neck surgery

Prof. Dr. med. Johannes Schultz

About the department

The department of otolaryngology, head and neck surgery at Helios Hospital Krefeld specializes in diagnosing and treating the ear, nose, and throat, including all ENT surgeries in children. One of the essential tasks of the department is the timely diagnosis to avoid irreparable hearing loss. To do this, the department has the latest modern equipment. Doctors have many years of experience and show excellent healing results. More than 3,500 operations are performed in the department annually for adults and children. In close cooperation with other clinic departments, the medical team treats airway stenosis, angioedema and facial paralysis.

The department's focus key is modern tumour surgery, middle ear microsurgery, salivary gland surgery, and plastic and reconstructive interventions. In addition to conservative drug treatment, the department has the latest technologies for diagnostics and surgical treatment. Endoscopic surgery of the nose, paranasal sinuses and lacrimal ducts are one of the critical surgical areas of the department. Surgeons perform most of these minimally invasive procedures on an outpatient basis, which is advantageous for the patient because the recovery takes place at home.
