Department of gynaecology and obstetrics

Prof. Dr. med. Michael Frederick
gynaecology, obstetrics

About the department

The department of gynaecology and obstetrics at Helios Hospital Krefeld offers patients highly specialized care for various gynaecological issues and childbirth. The department has four delivery rooms with state-of-the-art beds, a delivery area, and birthing and relaxation baths. The delivery rooms are designed in the style of the four elements: fire, earth, water and air. More than 1,800 babies are born in the department every year. The department was awarded the title of Level I Perinatal Center with particular specialization in nursing premature babies. An experienced team of obstetricians, paediatricians and nurses take care of the health of premature babies and children in need of intensive care and emergency surgical treatment. The main goal of the medical team is high-quality, safe medical care based on an individual approach.

The range of services of the department in gynaecology includes the diagnosis and treatment of endometriosis, urinary incontinence, and uterine fibroids. Treatment of malignant oncological diseases is of particular interest to the department's medical team. The high quality of cancer treatment is evidenced by the department's certification by the German Cancer Society. Doctors use conservative and surgical methods to treat all pathologies, depending on the individual clinical situation and the patient's general condition.
