Department of cardiology and rhytmology
The department of cardiology and rhytmology at Helios Hospital Krefeld offers a full range of services to diagnose and treat patients with heart and vascular diseases. For emergency medical care, the department has a chest pain unit. The outpatient chest pain centre is available to all patients who come to the clinic with acute chest pain on an emergency basis or through their family doctor. Together with the cardiac surgery intensive care unit, doctors treat more than 850 patients a year. Six unique and modern rooms allow doctors to provide personalised care. All rooms in the department are equipped with the latest medical technology, such as ventilators, perfusion, infusion pumps and a monitoring system. In addition, the department has the latest equipment for cardio MRI and cardio CT. The department conducts about 2,000 examinations per year.
The key focus for the doctors of the department is the treatment of rhythm disturbances - arrhythmias. The department is certified as an atrial fibrillation centre by the German Society of Cardiology. The department is the first in the Lower Rhine region to receive this award. In treating cardiac arrhythmias, experienced doctors use the latest diagnostic and ablation techniques to help patients regain a better quality of life. Also, the focus is on post-operative follow-up after heart surgery (bypass surgery, heart valve surgery, aneurysm surgery) and the treatment of severe left and right ventricular heart failure. The cardiology team of cardiologists, cardiac surgeons, and cardiac anaesthetists discuss each patient's best course of treatment. The department aims to treat patients competently and provide comprehensive assistance before, during, and after therapy.
