Department of orthopaedics, traumatology, and hand surgery
The department of orthopaedics, traumatology and hand surgery at Helios Hospital Berlin-Buch is an advanced centre of treatment of injuries. The German statutory accident insurance (DGUV) has granted the department approval for the new type of severe injury procedure (SAV). This makes the department one of the clinics that provide the highest level of care for trauma patients. As a member of the hand surgery section of the German Society for Trauma Surgery, the department also specializes in treating all acute hand injuries, among other things. Surgeons operate primarily using microsurgical techniques with the best equipment and try to restore various functions of the joints as much as possible. The team works interdisciplinary with a multimodal therapeutic approach. All ages are provided critical medical care. For the elderly, osteoporosis-adapted implants, compensation for nutritional deficits, and special geriatric early rehabilitation are offered.
Trauma, injuries and musculoskeletal diagnosis and treatment are the main priorities of the department. Replantation surgery and the entire spectrum of reconstructive hand surgery are available. All patients receive comprehensive rehabilitation from initial care to reintegration into everyday life and work.
