About the department

The department of ophthalmology at Academic Hospital Schlosspark Charlottenburg Berlin specializes in treating different eye diseases, including eye malpositions, corneal, retinal diseases, etc. The department consists of a highly-qualified, motivated, and well-established team of doctors, medical assistants, nurses, orthoptists, and secretaries. The head of the department is an active member of the German Ophthalmology Society (DOG). That's why all doctors in the department use only the newest technologies and follow the latest guidelines in medical practice. There is a modern surgical centre, where more than 4,000 operations per year are performed. The department of ophthalmology organizes special consultation hours for the various diseases of the eye. Depending on the clinical situation, patients can be treated on an outpatient basis or be hospitalized.

The department performs conservative and surgical treatment of corneal, lens, retinal diseases, and tumours using small, invasive techniques. In cooperation with other departments, ophthalmologists are responsible for traumatic injuries to the orbital area. In addition, there is a full capacity for laser eye surgeries.
